Course Structure and Content
Taught over 14 days of contact and with reading assignments and practical exercises to do between classroom episodes, this intensive modular course is designed to provide you with all of the knowledge and skills necessary to work competently as a professional EMT.
Each two day module covers a different aspect of EMT practice and teaching includes didactic lecture-style presentations as well as small group workshops to develop practical skills and scenario-based training to put knowledge and skills into practice. For each module, you will receive a module workbook with reading assignments, tasks and practical exercises to be completed before or after the face-to-face teaching. At the start of the course, you will also receive an Assessment Logbook which will contain all of your formative and summative assessments so that you can learn from errors and develop your skills throughout the course.
Course instructors include doctors, paramedics and advanced practitioners in pre-hospital and emergency care. All of the course faculty are currently practicing and hold advanced qualifications in pre-hospital medicine.
The course culminates with a consolidation and assessment phase including a final written examination and practical assessments covering all of the key knowledge and skills taught and practiced on the course. Successful completion of the course leads to the award of the Remote Medic UK EMT Certificate as well as a number of other certifications.

Whilst the course covers all of the knowledge and skills that you will need to work as a competent Emergency Medical Technician and we will provide you with support in gaining appropriate experience, none of the certifications awarded consitute a license to practice and we cannot guarantee that you will gain employment as an EMT after the course. Unlike other healthcare professionals, EMTs and Ambulance Technicians in the UK are not licensed or State Registered and there is no legal requirement to hold any particular qualification to be employed as an EMT.
You will need to purchase (or have access to) the following textbooks throughout the course. These books are available from bookshops or from online retailers and will serve as a useful resource throughout your EMT career as well as during the course.
