Course Structure and Content
Taught over 14 days of contact and with reading assignments and practical exercises to do between classroom episodes, this intensive modular course is designed to provide you with all of the knowledge and skills necessary to work competently as a professional EMT.
Each two day module covers a different aspect of EMT practice and teaching includes didactic lecture-style presentations as well as small group workshops to develop practical skills and scenario-based training to put knowledge and skills into practice. For each module, you will receive a module workbook with reading assignments, tasks and practical exercises to be completed before or after the face-to-face teaching. At the start of the course, you will also receive an Assessment Logbook which will contain all of your formative and summative assessments so that you can learn from errors and develop your skills throughout the course.
Course instructors include doctors, paramedics, advanced medics and advanced practitioners in pre-hospital and emergency care. All of the course faculty are currently practicing and hold advanced qualifications in pre-hospital medicine.
The course culminates with a consolidation and assessment phase including a final written examination and practical assessments covering all of the key knowledge and skills taught and practiced on the course.
